3 DAY CELEBRATION OF MUSIC, ART & FILM

Performances by Chappo, Fancy Colors, Hot Seconds, Weekends, Acrylics, and Revival Times

Brooklyn, NY (2010)—The Bushwick Film Festival returns for its fourth year on September 24th for an exciting three day event at Brooklyn Fire Proof in Bushwick, Brooklyn. From September 24th-26th the festival will screen 5 feature films by notable directors Steven Garbas, Giorgio Arcelli, Dan Keezer, Andrew Shirley, and Shaun Jefford. Also, the program for shorts will showcase documentaries and comedies by 20 filmmakers, including works by Brooklyn based collective The Film Shop and Untucked Films, who recently screened a retrospective of their work at Anthology Archive.

With a Woody Allen inspired art show curated by Joel Morrison and music producer and mixer Jason Finkel on board as the festival’s musical curator, this year promises to be an all encompassing arts festival. “We are integrating music and art to compliment films. My goal was to bring in exciting bands that resonate with the Brooklyn/Bushwick music scene”, says Jason Finkel. Bands include Fancy Colors, Hot Seconds, Weekends, Acrylics, Revival Times, and Chappo whose song is featured by Apple in the new iPod Touch commercial. Musical performances will be followed by DJ sets. Another addition to the 2010 festival is interactive photography installation, The Self Portrait Project by Andy Lin.

The Bushwick Film Festival, a 501(c)3 business partnership, was started in 2007. Over the course of 3 years the festival has screened films by 64 directors with the support of 15 sponsors including Pepsi, Sobe, Magic Hat, Stella, Original Sin and Uprinting. The festival celebrates the art of filmmaking, showcases unique and innovative films and provides filmmakers with the opportunity to market themselves to the public as well as the industry. The Message: making ideas real even if you have to stick it out and DO IT YOUR SELF!

Bushwick Film Festival: Take 4
Call for Submissions: July 31 Deadline

The Bushwick Film Festival announces its call for submission to the 4th annual Bushwick Film Festival. This year the festival runs September 10 – 12 in Bushwick.

If you are a filmmaker established or just starting the amazing journey best you get it together and submit your film to this group of Radicals. Radicals not meaning extreme political ideas but radical as in groovy folks that you need to collaborate with.. Years after the Bushwick Breweries and the speakeasies were shut down and right around the time the gangs of Bushwick were roaming the streets shanking artist in Morgantown, the Bushwick Film Festival came to be. These ladies, Directors Kweighbaye Kotee & Laree Ross (with help from loyal friends, naturally) have been around the block making noise, and projecting ideas for quite some time. In that time they’ve picked up 64 filmmakers, 15 sponsors, curated yearly music and art shows, with sick bands and very talented artists, collaborated with a ton of creative types and organizations, and sold an average of over 1000 festival tickets! So yeah, you should submit and contribute to the ongoing efforts to encourage people to make their ideas real even when it means sticking it out and DOING IT YOURSELF!

This year, Bushwick Film Festival is partnering with GCMP.tv to distribute and market its filmmakers’ films online and abroad! Yay!

The Bushwick Film Festival is organized by a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, joining the efforts to artistically develop the Bushwick community by bringing independent films and filmmakers to Bushwick. Submissions are being accepted through July 31st. For more information about the 2010 Bushwick Film Festival, including submission guidelines, summer long events, and how to purchase tickets in advance, please visit, www.bushwickfilmfestival.com.
