Years after the Bushwick Breweries and the speakeasies were shut down and right around the time the gangs of Bushwick were roaming the streets in Morgan town, the Bushwick Film Festival came to be. The Festival Team has been around the block making noise, and projecting ideas for quite some time. Over the course of 4 years, the festival has screened works by 64 filmmakers and have aquired 15 proud sponsors. The Festival also colloborates with local venues and creative collectives to put on annual music shows and art openings. Finally, over 1000 tickets have been sold from screenings and events during the festival weekends.
“We are strong advocates of making ideas REAL, even if you have to tough it out and DO IT YOURSELF!” – Kweighbaye Kotee & Laree Ross
The Bushwick Film Festival is organized by a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization. The Festival celebrates the art of filmmaking as a creative expression and provides a platform for independent filmmakers to present their work.
